National Braai Day: Ostrich Sosaties

In celebration of SA's national Braai-day, we decided to come up with a lean mean recipe for you and your family!

These ostrich sosaties were so easy to make! The best thing about them is that you can customize them with your favourite veggies if you want to!

Seven good reasons to switch to ostrich:

Low in cholesterol- Just 0,062g per 100g meat

Low in fat- Less than 2,0 % per 100g meat

Low in kilojoules- Only 387kJ per 100g meat

Rich in protein-A high 20,5% per 100g meat

Rich in iron- A high 3,2mg per 100g meat

Rich in taste and is easy to prepare

I, myself have become a fan of ostrich meat lately and I have to say, I love the taste! Try incorporating it into your eating plan for the week, instead of the meat you would've had. You won't be disappointed!

Ingredients for your sosaties:

Butternut cubes

Sweet potato cubes

Ostrich steak

Olive Oil

Salt & pepper

Balsamic Vinegar

Rosa tomatoes

1. Cut your ostrich steak into small cubes and let them soak in balsamic vinegar.

2. Pan fry lightly with some olive oil and rosemary until rare-medium texture.

3. Steam sweet potato & butternut cubes 3min microwave.

They shouldn't be thoroughly cooked.

4. Pack your sosatie stick however you want with all the ingredients above and drizzle some olive oil over everything and pinch of salt & pepper.

5. Bring these sosaties to some nice and hot coals and "braai" them for +-20min.

Happy National Braai Day South-Africa!
